ThebuildingoftheM11LinkRoadinEastLondonprovokedalongandbittercampaignbylocalresidentstoprotecttheirhomesfromdemolition.Blightwasfilmedduringthisperiod,whilehousesweredemolishedandlandcleared.Usingrecordingsmadeofpeople’sreminiscences,thescoreincorporatefragmentsofspeechandnaturalsounds.Thefilmisbasedonrealeventswhichtransformedpeople’slives,butitismuchmorethanaconventionaldocumentary.Enigmaticstoriesarecreatedandthemundaneistransformedintothemarvellous.Themusicandimagesarewovenintoanelegiacevocationofmemoryandloss.
